It sat for almost a week next to my bed, and was always on my "to play" list but I never got round to it. The trio of Forcasas each go in a different direction, from the vaporous beauty of "Forcasa 1" to the ambient industrialism of "Forcasa 2" and into the electro-tinged elegance of "Forcasa 3." Luckily, everything else is great. Alot of people seem to like Forcasa 1, but not me. Soup If albums were priced based on quality like food is, then this album would cost 200 dollars! It's beautiful in its simplicity, and very emotionally strong.

What really struck me was the consistancy in production quality, from the terrific opener that is "Glink", the superb melodies of the "Forcassa" trilogy, right up to the staggering beautiful "Aguila" . However, I eat this with rice, which is the way I always do ever since I can remember. But the jewel in the crown is surely "Aguilla," a melancholy immersion in sound. IMHO the highlights of SOUP are, "Forcasa 1" and "Aguilla", the first being a nice track filled with crispy beats and soft melodies, and the second is a VERY beautiful sad track with choirs and even a short solo. I'd love to say this is an amazing album, and the majority of it is. An album destined to be a classic. Bola first atracted my attention cause I read somewhere he is a mixture between Boards of Cananda and Autechre.
I'm not very keen on the direction Darrell Fitton took his music after this though. A complete universe at itself. There are layers... and layers... and layers of sound, sometimes intriguing and dark, sometimes melancholyc.

Back in 1999 I was recommended this album by a friend, who lent me his copy so I could hear it.
Thank you Bolaman! It sounds too much like a whole lot of the rest of electronica around that time for me to like it or something like that. Underrated and still relatively unknown "classic"!! Luckily, everything else is great. From the rest, "W.I.K. swims in warm tones, even as the rhythm anchors it down.
